Case Study
Challenge
The General Records Office (GRO) holds approximately 108.2 million birth, marriage and death records dating back to 1837, with ~16.9 million digitised and ~91.3 million in paper format. Digitally transforming these records is complex due to the variety of record types, evolving formats, diverse text styles (including cursive) and the deteriorating condition of physical media.
Non-digital records hinder certificate production and data sharing, while sourcing equipment for microfiche is increasingly difficult. The GRO aims to automate certificate production, digitise records and modernise public services as part of a broader transformation.
solution
XBP Global showcased its Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) solution through a Proof of Concept, demonstrating secure record tracking, document scanning, and automated transcription using Google Cloud Vision.
The AI Powered IDP combines proprietary and third-party technologies, including NLP and cloud-based generative AI, with a human-in-the-loop approach for cases beyond automation.
Benefits
XBP’s AI-powered IDP solution for the client automates data extraction, validates information, flags issues with suggested fixes and streamlines workflows, scaling easily to support growing record volumes and users.
